Chuck Peddle patent for zoned bit recording?

Hi there,
reading the "on the edge" book I see references to a patent by Chuck Peddle about what I think is zoned bit recording, from around 1961. He used this technique when designing the CBM disk drives, so outer tracks can hold more sectors than inner tracks. However, I am unable to find the patent in publicly available patent databases.
Do you have any more information on this?
