Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, January 15

Post by rbernardo »

Happy New Year, all good C= and Ami fans!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, January 15, at --

The Pizza Pit Restaurant
2705 N. Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Princeton)
Fresno, California

This month we dissect a RAMLink recently acquired from the C= collection of Chuck W. in Stockton. We have a brief look at the follow-up Bil Herd video in which he discusses the Commodore 116. Fingers crossed against Murphy's Law, we're going to run the new Media Player 128 (beta) and the new demo, Nothing Else Matters 128. Once again the PAL CD32 returns with a big box of many CD32 discs, and the EasyFlash 1 for the C64 returns, too.

For discussion, we'll talk about the close of the Commodore Users Group of Kansas City, Lenard Roach's re-release of his book, "Run-Stop/Restore", and upcoming shows, Notacon 9 and the Vintage Computer Festival East.

And more,
Robert Bernardo

Post by rbernardo »

Happy Valentines Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, February 19, at --

Panera Bread Restaurant
1260 Shaw Ave.
Clovis, California

Note that this month our meeting will be at Panera Bread, instead of the usual Pizza Pit Restaurant. (The Pizza Pit will be jam-packed with racing car fans!)

Last month we dissected a RAMLink; this month we open up a SuperCPU 128 20 MHz. accelerator. Afterwards, we'll try it out with the SCPU game, "Metal Dust" (if I can't find MD in time, then it will be the more mundane, "Total Eclipse"). Delayed from last month, we will try out the new "Media Player 128" (beta) and the new demo, "Nothing Else Matters 128". Finally, we'll try out "Relax: the Stress Reduction System" for the C64, complete with headband and sensors and the electromyograph unit!

Sensoral Kaleidoscope, and Balloon Game,

Next SCCAN meeting - Saturday, March 17

Post by rbernardo »

Greetings, Commodorians and Amigans!

The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is this Saturday, March 17, from 2 to 4+ p.m. at Joe M.'s house in the Los Angeles area. For exact directions, send me an e-mail.

For your entertainment, I am bringing the expanded Amiga 1000 with Tom Thul A1000 RAM/IDE adapter and plenty of game and productivity disks. For your enlightenment, I'm bringing a box of these C64/128 computer repair carts pictured at

http://retro-link.blogspot.com/2012/02/ ... carts.html

Not pictured is the Jason Ranheim Promenade C1 cart for burning EPROMs (but I'm bringing that, too). Now if I can squeeze them into the car, I'll also have the Plus/4 with 1551 drive and the VIC-20 with JiffyDOS and other goodies. Naturally, Joe will have his C64 set-up and A500 set-up at the house. We might even have a guest from far to drop off some equipment.

Bring anything that you want to show off!

Happy St. Paddy's Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, March 18, at --

Last month I wrote:

> ...this month we open up a SuperCPU 128 20 MHz. accelerator.

Plenty of presentations left over from last month's meeting. In addition, joining the SuperCPU 128 will be the return of the Turbomaster CPU 4 MHz accelerator cart, this time with JiffyDOS v6.01.

> Afterwards, we'll try it out with the SCPU game, "Metal Dust"... we will try out the new "Media Player 128" (beta) and the new demo, "Nothing Else Matters
> 128".

In addition, this month we look at the C64 cartridge duo of Laser Dreams (minus actual lasers needed) from Byteware Computer. Hmm, what's inside those controller carts?

> Finally, we'll try out "Relax: the Stress Reduction System" for the C64, complete with headband and sensors and the electromyograph unit!

In addition, continuing in the vein of self-help, this month we try out the Einstein Memory Trainer from the Einstein Corporation, composed of a set of C64 disks "to expand the power of your memory". (Cue the hypnotizing music!)

Oh, the cute Amiga 600 with lots of
disks will be there, too,

Greetings, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, April 22, at --

The Pizza Pit Restaurant
2705 N. Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Princeton)
Fresno, California

Note that the meeting is on April 22, not our usual third Sunday of the month which would be April 15.

For the meeting this month, we have the return of the PET 8296-D, this time in fully-working condition. And we'll try a few choice programs with it. Also on the VIC-20, we'll see the new demo, "VIC can again". We also try to catch up on the software and hardware that were left undemonstrated in previous meetings.

In other matters, we'll talk about the passing of Jack Tramiel, founder of Commodore Business Machines. Dick Estel will bring the library catalog printout and some of our early newsletters for perusal by the members.
