Next SCCAN meeting - Saturday, Sept. 22

Post by rbernardo »

Happy Labor Day week, C= comrades!

The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 4+ p.m. at

Panera Bread Restaurant
19662 Nordhoff St. (exit from I-405)
Northridge, CA 91324-2421
(818) 407-9400

Note the later date in the month for the meeting and the return to our usual location.

I'm bringing the A1200 with Blizzard '060 and OS 3.9, stocked with goodies in its CompactFlash hard drive. For your 8-bit fix, there will be a Ray Carlsen-refurbished SX-64, VC1020 expander for the VIC-20, and PAL C64 from the Czech Republic.

Be sure to bring your own hardware and/or software to show and tell!

FCUG picnic lunch - Sunday, Oct. 28

Post by rbernardo »

Happy Halloween, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its annual "picnic" lunch from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, October 28, at --

Seven Bar & Grill
25 Shaw Avenue (corner of Shaw and Minnewawa)
Clovis, CA
http://www.sevenclovis.com/

Note that the picnic lunch is in place of our regular club meeting; regular club meetings resume in November. Also note that the event will be on the fourth Sunday of the month, not the third Sunday, due to the Amiwest Show being held in Sacramento on the third weekend.

Remember that all club members and their families are invited, and the club will be paying for the lunch. See you there for delicious food and friendly conversation!

I'm sure Commodore/Amiga will be entering the conversation,

Next SCCAN meeting - Sunday, Nov. 11

Post by rbernardo »

Happy almost Thanksgiving, C= and Ami comrades!

The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Sunday, Nov. 11, from 2 to 4+ p.m. at

Panera Bread Restaurant
19662 Nordhoff St. (exit from I-405)
Northridge, CA 91324-2421
(818) 407-9400

Note that we are meeting on a Sunday instead of a Saturday.
I'm bringing the AmigaOne XE G4 and the Commodore SX-64 with SuperCPU. You'll be able to play around with OS 4.1 on the AmigaOne and with the 3D Construction Kit game, A Chance in Hell, on the SX-64. We'll also look at raw video from the SC3 Arcade Party held on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Be sure to bring your own hardware and/or software to show and tell!

Happy Thanksgiving, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, November 18, at --

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

It's software time this month! For the VIC-20 there are the new games, Avalanche and Mayhem, from Revival Studios, and more slideshow fun with "VIC can again". For the C64 we'll have the SuperCPU version of the 3D Construction Kit game, A Chance in Hell, and the new, accurate, Pac Man clone, Paku Paku. For the Amiga we'll try out Amiga Forever.

Not ready for this month but perhaps for the December meeting, there is Hard Sync for the PAL C64. Hard Sync is the Dance Dance Revolution clone which uses a Playstation 2 dance pad (I've ordered the dance pad, but it won't get here until after this Sunday's meeting).

Finally, in addition to everything above, we'll be trying to Skype to the Netherlands and communicate with fellow C= user, Berry D.J..

Merry Christmas, C= and Ami aficionados!

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)

Never give up! Never surrender! The VIC-20 that I brought in last month failed at the meeting, and so, Revival Studios' Avalanche and Mayhem games and the "VIC can again" slideshow were not presented. This time I'll bring in another VIC-20 (and maybe Louis can bring his VIC-20 as back-up... hint... hint...).

I'm also bringing in those heavyweight beasts, a PET 4032 and a PET 8032 with 2031 disk drive in order to try out the PET version of Avalanche, the first commercial game to be released for the PET since the early 1980's.

For the PAL C64, we'll dance to Hard Sync, the Dance Dance Revolution clone which uses a Playstation 2 dance pad. And for your lunchtime listening pleasure, we'll listen to 8Bit Weapons' latest music entitled, "The Collection 1998-2012".

Next SCCAN meeting - Sunday, Jan. 13

Post by rbernardo »

Happy New Year, C= and Ami comrades!

Our next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Sunday, January 13, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
19662 Nordhoff Street
Northridge, California
(818) 407-9400

Once again I will be bringing ArcadeRetroGaming's Multiple Classic Computer 216 (MCC-216) with its C64, Amiga OS 1.3, Atari 2600, Spectrum cores, and Apple II+ cores. Naturally, the Commodore SX-64 will be there; we'll play with the Capture II cartridge rebuilt by Joe and with the Scanntronik Video Digitizer and its accompanying program, DigiMulti, which "produces color scans by capturing three color bitmaps red, green, blue, and then merging them together for the final color picture". (Shades of DigiView for the Amiga!) Finally, I'm hopeful that Matt D. will bring his VIC-20 to show us a bit of hardware hacking he's done for the machine.

Don't forget to bring any Amiga or Commodore items you wish to share!
