This month we have a presentation on the new VIC-20 Multicart/Development cart with game set 2 from Kent Rittenhouse. (A few years ago we played with the VIC-20 Multicart/Development cart with game set 1.) Member Greg D. will bring in his C64's and 1541's for us to test out, the former to be tested with the Commodore Diagnostic cartridge. For the classic Amiga, we'll try out the Jim Drew Amiga-from/to-Mac disk utility, SYBIL with cartridge, and the Coast to Coast Technologies' disk copier, Synchro Express II with cartridge.

Happy Easter, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, April 27, at --

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

Note the new meeting date; it was moved, because Easter Sunday fell on our regular meeting date.

This month vice-president Roger is taking over the meeting while I am away in Burbank, California (wow, I haven't missed a meeting since 2006). For the April meeting, Roger plans a presentation on VIC-20 software. Also member Louis will be having the club test SID chips. Courtesy of Duncan MacDougall of The Other Group of Amigoids, we'll study a couple of different Kickstart ROM switcher boards for Amiga 500/2000's. Courtesy of Tim Harris at Sharewareplus.co.uk, we'll be looking at hardware/software package of FM Radio for the C64. Finally, we'll be trying out the new C64 multicart (whose name I am not permitted to say yet) which was released at April 5-6 Vintage Computer Festival East 9.1.

Sincerely,
Robert Bernardo

Happy week of Cinco de Mayo, C= and Ami comrades!

The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, May 17, from 2 to 4+ p.m. At

Panera Bread Restaurant
19662 Nordhoff Street
Northridge, California
(818) 407-9400

This month I'll be bringing in the Amiga 4000 desktop with 16 megs of Fast RAM, 4 gig hard drive, OS 3.9, and loaded with the usual array of productivity titles, games, demos, and music. Also I'll be bringing in the boxed, minty Amiga 1000 seen at

http://blog.retro-link.com/2014/03/amig ... -with.html

On the C64 side, we'll look at some new... yes, that's right... some new demos for the SuperCPU, and everything powered by prototype 2 of the custom-made C64/128/VIC-20CR/Plus4 power supply from Ray Carlsen.

Don't forget to bring in anything you want to show off!

Happy hot weather, FCUG members and guests!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, May 18, at --

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

Courtesy of Tim Harris at Sharewareplus.co.uk, we'll try out the uCassette (microCassette). As described in its flyer, “The uCassette interface is a device that converts the audio signals from the playback of .WAV files and/or .MP3 to TTL signals…” which are picked up by the cassette port on the Commodore. So, the uCassette is usable by any Commodore computer with a standard cassette port. Load cassette files without the need of a Datasette!

For the Commodore 128 in 80-column mode, we'll wade through the large binder of instructions and the program itself, Family Roots from Quinsept. It is an extremely comprehensive genealogy program, the best I have seen for the Commodore. Thanks to Justin Jernigan of the Mid-Atlantic Retro-Computing Hobbyists for donating the program.

Speaking of MARCH, we'll see some raw footage from their Vintage Computer Festival 9.1 which was held on April 6-8. Just a taste of that footage... We walk around the VCF East exhibit halls and vending room, Mike Hill tells about his latest version of PETpix, CBM engineer Bil Herd talks about monitor repair, interspersing it with CBM stories; CBM engineer Dave Haynie talks about CBM's latter years, and Zach Weddington shows off clips of his upcoming Amiga film, Viva Amiga (o.k., maybe part 2 of all of this for the June FCUG meeting).

Last but not least, we'll go through the process of installing the 256 meg ZorRAM memory board into an Amiga 3000 computer.

All that and talk of the July 26-27
Commodore Vegas Expo v10,

Happy hot weather, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, June 8, at --

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

Note that the meeting date has been changed from our usual third Sunday of the month to the second Sunday of the month.

This month we'll look at the hardcopy version of Reset #03 magazine, just chock full of C64 articles. We'll try out some new SuperCPU demos for the C64. For the VIC-20, we'll play some newly-released games, like Jeff Daniels' FIFA World Cup 2014 and Ice Hockey 2014. For the classic Amiga, we'll go through a case of miscellaneous programs on floppy disks. Finally, we'll try to catch up the videos shot at the Vintage Computer Festival 9.1.

All this plus talk of Commodore/Amiga in
Europe and the Commodore Vegas Expo,

(818) 407-9400

This month the big topic is the July 26-27 Commodore Vegas Expo and what's going to happen at the show. For your software perusal, we'll look at dozens of new C64/VIC-20/Plus4 game disks from Psytronik/Binary Zone Interactive, like Shoot 'Em Up Destruction Sets 1, 2, and 3; Darkness, Phase Out, and more. For your hardware perusal, we'll have various items recently bought from AmigaKit.com, like a 256 meg ZorRAM, Amitech mice, a CDTV controller, and more. From Tim Harris of England, we'll have C64 items, like an eprom programmer, 3-way user port expander, Multicart+, and more. In old business, for the VIC-20 we'll try the update to Jeff Daniels' FIFA World Cup 2014 and Ice Hockey 2014. In new business, we'll use some C64 programs to control the Quickshot SVI 2000 robot arm via the special user port interface cartridge. Also I'll have a full report with photos, video clips, software, and hardware of my recent Commodore/Amiga European travels to the United Kingdom (AmigaKit, Psytronik/Binary Zone Interactive, Lincolnshire Amiga Group, Tim Harris, Peter Hanson), Switzerland (Rob Clarke), the Netherlands (Netherlands C= Show), Germany (Dienstagstreff C= Meeting), and Italy/Austria (Mike Battilana of Cloanto).

Happy almost Labor Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

This month we'll have a report on the July 26-27 Commodore Vegas Expo v10. Then we'll look at Commodore and Amiga software bought from CommVEx. Not only that but we'll also look at Commodore and Amiga software and hardware from Mike Powell of Maple Falls, Washington. Ray Carlsen has provided us the latest samples of his commercial gear - C= power supply, all 3 different versions of the Computer Saver, the C128-to-C64 adapter for his power supply, and the custom Plus/4-to-C64 adapter for his power supply.

If someone brings a PLCC puller (hint... hint... Brad), we can pull the Buster chip on an Amiga 4000 and replace it with the latest chip and then install a 256 meg ZorRAM board. Finally, we'll go through more C= software games from Psytronik/Binary Zone.
