Ah, okay. Now I've got it. That was quite the auction. The C64GS is rare enough and one that is in mint condition in the box, well, that's pretty amazing. It worked out well for everyone because you got a great price for it and the buyer got something that will be a source of pride for their collect...

You might get a better response by joining and then posting to the CBM Hackers mailing list. The level of expertise on that list is staggering and questions like yours are standard fare.
Hope that helps.

I have had no issues with 1.2 so I have not updated the build on our site. I'm confused. Did you mean you had no issues with v1.14? Take a look at the VICE News file to see a list of the additions/bug fixes. The list is staggering. At this point, there's no reason for anyone to be running v1.14. Wo...

Whoops. Hold shift when you press CLR/HOME. That will give you the inverse heart which will clear the screen. Without the shift you get a home (top left corner) without a clear. Sorry about that. The first thing you should do is have a look through the Commodore 64 User Manual which will familiarize...

Use a print statement with a press of the CLR/HOME key in between quotes. You should see an inverted heart. That will clear your screen. If you're starting out with BASIC programming on the Commodore 64, I would suggest that you have a look at the Commodore 64 Programmer's Reference Guide . It's fil...

1: download the VICE emulator from our site http://www.commodore.ca/download/commodore/WinVICE-1.14.zip Perhaps it would be better to direct people to the VICE website where the current version of VICE is 1.20 (or update the version you're redistributing through your website). Version 1.14 is terri...

What other commodore forums are there? There are lots of other forums. Here are the ones I visit daily: PETSCII Forums - a variety of message boards including DTVHacking, TelBBS, Quantum Link Reloaded, Secret Society of Commodore Coders and more Lemon64 - the most active 64 forum of all, mostly gam...

Perhaps you should raise this issue with Steve Wozniak himself? You can send him email through his website and see what he says. I suspect the 'invented the personal computer' bit was dramatic license on the part of Gina Smith. I had an email exchange with The Woz a few years ago and he was modest, ...

Uh, isn't this book written by Steve Wozniak , not Steve Jobs ? Steve Wozniak designed the Apple I, the Apple ][ and a variety of other peripherals like the original Apple disk drive. Regardless, arguing who invented the personal computer is like arguing how many angels can dance on the head of a pi...

Re: Commodore VIC 20 SMPL
I think the SMPL stands for Simple Message Passing Library and the unit is a customized VIC-20 that can read and generate SMPTE time codes. They are fairly rare and at this point its only value might be that of a conversation piece.DarthKur wrote:Is there anyone here that has any familiarity with this oddity?

Interested in GEOS?
http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=15223
There's a new and fairly exhaustive article about GEOS at OS News and it's a pretty good read whether you're still an avid user of GEOS or just remember it from 'back in the day'.
